Experiment 1- Short Story

The concept for my first experiment was a short story that would represent the journey of my relationship from my origin piece. This experiment was probably the least successful of the three, but led me into a better state of mind going forward. Before the next two experiments, I realized that I would rather try out projects that were more deliberate, and less literal in terms of relating exactly to the personal experiences depicted in my song.

Experiment 2- Screenplay

Though this was the experiment I ended up using as the final project, it went through many different stages before becoming what it is now. At first, I started writing a screenplay that was more of a literal interpretation of my relationship. Soon, it was clear to me that I did not want to be limited by my own experience, and I tried to be more creative when I started again from scratch. The result was a sample that didn't quite know exactly where it was going, but had the potential to turn into something great.

Experiment 3- Personal Essay/Research Paper

For my third experiment, I decided to pursue something a bit more research based since my first two experiments were forms of creative writing. Since my origin piece is based on a breakup I had, I decided to do research on how a breakup affects the brain. The theme of this website was greatly inspired by one of the sources in my annotated bibliography. The source is a study about how expressive writing following a breakup can have many health benefits for an individual.
